Rachel Pally's style has been distinguished by her ability to blend the "easy
and elegant" with the "chic and classic". From the infamous cropped
gaucho to the coveted caftan dress, Rachel Pally's designs have left an indelible
mark on the world of women's wear. Her ability to fuse simplicity with glamour has
consistently resulted in a collection that looks beautiful on everyone.
From childhood, Rachel has had a natural eye for design and a keen sense of personal
style. Her designs have been particularly influenced by the time she spent working
in the costume shop while studying Cultural Geography and Dance at UC Berkeley.
"Dance has always played an important part in my life and served as a source
of inspiration for the way that I design. I love how fabric can be used to beautifully
accentuate certain parts of the body while it can also be draped to hide others,"
Rachel says.
Post college, she ventured back to her roots in Southern California to create her
first capsule collection, which she sold door-to-door at notable L.A. brick and
mortars. Her Rachel Pally label was launched in 2002, embodying the essentials of
style and comfort for every woman. Fall of 2007 marked the launch of the plus-size
collection -Rachel Pally White Label- which offers many of the hottest selling styles
from each season in sizes 14-22.
Rachel has since been hailed as LA's "Jersey Girl" and Rachel Pally Inc.
is sold in over 500 stores internationally; including Bloomingdales, Macys, Nordstrom,
Revolve Clothing and Shopbop.com. Her designs are a favorite amongst Hollywood's
elite, including the likes of Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Hudson,
Oprah Winfrey, Heidi Klum, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Alba. Whether you're a size
2 or 22, the Rachel Pally brand offers diversity each season with classic silhouettes
in a wide range of colors and prints, resulting in a line that truly stands the
test of time.
Rachel currently lives in Los Feliz, California with her husband Kevin Circosta
and their dog Sadie. She revels in the simple things in life, like watching the
sunset, playing guitar, harvesting her garden or cooking dinner for friends; at
each turn finding inspiration through color and form which then becomes expressed
through her designs.
Fun Facts
How would you define your style?
All over the place! I love a maxi dress and sandals for a laid back California look but I'm just as comfortable in leather leggings and studded booties!
What's your favorite trend?
Old or new. Bellbottom jeans. With the right platform shoe they make your legs look a mile long! And maxi dresses...so chic!
If you could have lived in a different decade, what would it have been and why?
The late 1960s-mid 1970s. Music, art, style, politics....what an exciting time. So much change was happening then.
If you could pick a song that most described your life, what would it be?
"You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" by Bob Dylan. I walked down the aisle to this song at my wedding. It doesn't really describe my life at all but I associate it with such a special time in my life. And I grew up singing it with my dad.
Do you have any nicknames?
My husband calls me "Pal." Or "Pally Girl."
